Skegness Carnival Week is the high point of the town's summer — a nine-day programme of seafront entertainment, sandcastle competitions, a fun fair and the illuminated Saturday procession along Grand Parade.
This year's procession sets off at 18:30 with floats from every school, club and business in the town. Earlier in the week expect a junior carnival, a sand-sculpting championship on the beach, live music at the Clock Tower and fireworks over the Pier on the Friday night.
Pre-book accommodation — the town fills up fast. Direct trains from Nottingham and Grantham; for drivers, the Richmond Drive car parks fill first. Full programme on the town council's site from mid-June.
