About this business
Modern British small plates in Lincoln's Cathedral Quarter.
Tucked into a narrow Georgian frontage behind Bailgate, The Magna Kitchen has spent the last three years quietly becoming the place Lincoln recommends first. The menu is short — six starters, six mains, four puddings — and changes every six weeks to reflect what's in season on the surrounding farms.
Lincolnshire sourcing is central: lamb from Wragby, Lincoln Red beef from Goulceby, asparagus from the Fens in season, cheese from Cropwell Bishop. The wine list is tight, almost entirely European, and the kitchen does a proper job of matching pairings if you want them.
The restaurant seats 38, including four covers in the basement wine room. The team's approach is no fuss, no small-plate-ism affectation, just well-sourced Lincolnshire food cooked properly. Bookings recommended on weekends; they take walk-ins at the bar most weekday evenings.
