Tour booking terms

Last updated: October 2026
Draft for review. This page is a plain English draft prepared for Marcus Cribb to review before it is relied on. It is not legal advice.

These terms apply when you book a place on a tour run by Marcus Cribb, trading as Marcus Cribb History (“we”, “us”). Registering interest on this website is not a booking and does not commit you to anything. Each tour page and booking confirmation will set out the price, dates, what is included and any tour specific conditions, which form part of these terms.

1. Making a booking

A booking is confirmed when we have received your deposit or full payment and sent you written confirmation by email. Please check your confirmation carefully and tell us straight away if anything is wrong.

2. Payment

The deposit amount and the date by which the balance is due will be stated for each tour [placeholder: deposit amount and balance due date to be set by Marcus]. If the balance is not paid on time we may treat the booking as cancelled by you.

3. If you cancel

Please tell us in writing. Cancellation charges will be set out for each tour and reflect costs we cannot recover, such as accommodation and transport [placeholder: cancellation charge schedule to be set by Marcus]. We strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance when you book, which covers cancellation.

4. If we change or cancel a tour

Itineraries may change because of weather, access, safety or circumstances outside our control; we will always try to offer a suitable alternative. If we need to make a significant change before departure, or cancel a tour (for example because minimum numbers are not reached), we will tell you as soon as possible and you may choose a full refund of the money you have paid us. We are not responsible for costs you have arranged separately, such as flights, unless the law requires otherwise.

5. Your responsibilities

6. Our responsibility to you

We will provide the tour with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Where a tour includes accommodation or transport arranged by us as a package, you may have additional rights under the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018, which we will explain in the booking details [placeholder: Marcus to confirm whether any tours are sold as packages and what financial protection applies].

7. Complaints

If something is not right during a tour, please tell your guide straight away so it can be put right. If you remain unhappy, please contact us in writing within 28 days of the end of the tour.

8. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales [placeholder: Marcus to confirm, or Scots law if the business is based in Scotland]. If you live elsewhere in the UK you may also bring proceedings in your home courts.
